Rally for Peace
Prawase Wasi
On 15th February, the day that comes between Valentine's Day and Mahapuja Day, people all over the world join their hands for peace. As peace-loving Thais, we are united with our friends throughout the world to rally for peace.
In this century, humans do not want wars and violence any more. We need love and peace.
The Buddha, Jesus Christ and Muhammad do not teach their disciples to kill for an
achievement. Instead, they profess love for other humans and peaceful coexistence. Mahatma Gandhi, whose heart brimmed with compassion for all human beings, once said that "the whole world is related". Our collective mission in this century is to
create a New Consciousness of 'unity' between human beings and nature that will bring about an immense rapport and love among all peoples and nature. Over the last century, wars have killed 200 million people. But much more than that have died from poverty and social injustice. This is because of a lack of spiritual development of the human race.
Development in this new century should no longer be measured by how much one can get. With the same old measurement of worth, wars and homicide will become more violent than in the last century. Peace should be an indicator of development in the new century. Peace is a value, not a number. Quantity and killing are not the ways of the civilized. Globalization that is interested only in quantity and competition is uncivilized and will lead to violence and wars. In this new century, people should be enabled to move to a higher consciousness, to achieve a peaceful coexistence and civilized globalization. All humans have the potential to achieve human perfection and free themselves from savage instincts. They can acquire universal love for all humans and things, in order to live together in peace.
Let's put down our weapons. Stop making wars. Get away from violence and become
fully-realized humans.
All our arms budgets are more than enough to save the children and people throughout the world from deaths by hunger and social injustice. All our arms budgets are more than enough for the whole world to learn to coexist in peace.
- Stop making more weapons.
- People of this century do not want any more arms and wars. They need love and peace.
- May love and peace flourish in the hearts of friends all over the
world
- May every day be a day of universal love.
- May this century be a victorious time for all humanities, victory over hatred, victory for unbounded love and peaceful
coexistence, between peoples and peoples and between peoples and all natural beings. A time of permanent peace.
